_project:
Villa Groven, Svaneveien, Snarøya, Oslo
Interior renovation.
Originally designed by architect Jan Inge Hovig in the mid-1900s, the villa featured an all-pine interior and a traditional room layout. The renovation opened the main floor into a more contemporary plan, centred around the original double-sided fireplace and a newly designed kitchen.
The kitchen was developed to integrate with key architectural elements, echoing the form and materiality of the fireplace. Minimal glass walls around the staircase allow light and views from the seaside façade to flow through the interior. At the entrance, a built-in volume houses a generous wardrobe and bathroom.
